All I can hear is my breathing – I stare at my garmin keep the watts above 310 – It’s only another Minuite and a half – push on into to the dark night, the feel of the road underneath me, the climb applies the resistance – it excites me it hurts me it heals mind.

This year I’ve decided to work with a coach. Just beacause I want to be the best version of me on a bike, and to learn. I’m also spending 3 weeks in the Alps and I want to be strong and really enjoy it. I’ve ridden for 30 years and I’m 42 but I find modern training fascinating and working with an expert is massively rewarding.
My work is full gas and my family too so in the week, most of my training takes place when the kids go to bed and I’m rarely home before 7 pm so it means training in the night. But I’ve come to enjoy the stillness of the night air, the roads are super quiet and I can somehow get into my efforts.

Coaching works for me, it’s getting results but above all I don’t have to think about what I’m going to do I just look in my Calendar get on the bike and smash out the sessions. I’ve not really had doubts that I can’t do the sessions either as they are tailored for me.
